Organic Farming

We generally ask for certification but do not understand what standards are referred for certification. Organic cultivation is not only limited to the specific crop, soil, water and fertiliser or pesticide. It is also talking about the genetic variability of crops, biodiversity in a specific region and multi-crop cultivation. In certification what we test is final output as monitoring entire process is not possible. Unfortunately organic is linked with end product but in reality its process, not output.

Fair trade is something which ensures fair prices, living wages and community benefits for farmers, workers and their children. Education, health care and environmental sustainability all benefit from Fair trade, and workers benefit from improved, humane working conditions. This has really created awareness in people's mind in having organic food and making themselves healthy which in return the farmer gets a fair deal.
